Welcome to the Washington Alaska Pain Initiative

The Washington Alaska Pain Initiative is a multidisciplinary movement directed towards improving the management of cancer pain throughout the states of Washington and Alaska. Founded in 1991 as the Washington State Cancer Pain Initiative, it is an independent, non-profit, grass roots organization with its own tax-exempt (501-C-3) status. The WAKPI is a cooperative effort of clinical care facilities, higher education, government and many health care professionals including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers and others from all corners of the states of Washington and Alaska.
